I wonder how people here feel about the possibility that troop casualties are being manipulated? Our government always has manipulated those numbers, so I don't understand why this war would be any different. During WW2 we didn't appear to be paying as high of a price as our allies, so the wounded and killed were blended into one category, "casualties". Using that method, Iraq would have a casualty count of around 20,000. The Vietnam war was really confusing. We were led to believe we had 6000 KIA. They just didn't focus on the other 40,000 that were MIA. They also didn't include 19,000 people who had death certificates signed in foreign countries. To this day we don't have an accurate count that doesn't have controversy attached to it.
أنا تساءل كيف يشعر الناس هنا حول طريقة التلاعب فى حساب الخسائر العسكرية ؟ حكومتنا دائما تتلاعب فى تلك الأرقام، ولا أفهم لماذا ستختلف هذه الحرب عن بقية الحروب ، وأثناء الحرب العالمية الثانية لم يبدوا أننا ندفع ثمناً غالياً مثل حلفائنا ، لأن القتلى والجرحى كانوا يوضعون فى نفس القوائم ، وبإستخدام نفس الطريقة فى الحساب فإننا نكون خسرنا ما يقرب من 20000 جندى فى العراق ( ثم يتحدث عن الطرق الملتوية فى حساب القتلى أثناء حرب فيتنام )

I too, like many others here on ……….. , have a son in the Army that also served in Iraqi war. Thank God, for he came back whole; although I do think he does have some problems at times with the memory of the war. They would not let him out upon time of discharge even though he served his 4 yrs. honorably.
Infact, he is still in the service and with the way the war is going and Rummy talking about sending more troops, he will probably have to go again. We live
with that fear day to day
my prayers along with all our other soldiers that are being murdered for an illegal war. I too like ………. feel that this country is disgusting because the media does NOT let us know what is going on,

I am extremely opposed to this war, trust me. Its sickening looking at all those numbers and realizing they're just going to keep climbing. Too bad Bushy got us in this damn war. And for what? Originally it was WMDs, right? Then he changed the story to oil sanctions? And now the story is to liberate the Iraqi people? Its not our business to police the world like that.

Has it occurred to you that these steps may have been taken for the wrong reasons in support of the wrong motives?
There seems to be this prevailing opinion that although people have given their lives for our freedoms, including the freedom to criticize our leaders, actually using that freedom is somehow wrong and an insult to America. But maybe our leaders _are_ wrong or _are_ employing deception or _are_ acting for the wrong reasons. Isn't it our responsibility, our duty, as Americans, to keep the country focused on the ideals it was founded upon instead of blindly accepting whatever Fox News tells us? More importantly, shouldn't we, as The People, think for ourselves?

. I have a cousin who is in Iraq right now who could get killed or injured. I can't do anything about that or the people who are over in Iraq or people who have already been injured or dead.
It's sad. I don't like war, although I don't think anybody likes war. a lot of good people die from both sides who didn't ask to become part of a war but they go and fight. People who survive war don't want to talk about what happened to them while they were fighting which I wouldn't either if I went to war.
Reminds me of that song "War." It's good for absolutely nothing.
