Assalamu Alykom ABU AL-NASR AL-FARABI (950-870) ![]() Abu Nasr Mohammad Ibn Al-Farakh Al-Farabi was born in a small village named Wasij , near farab in Turkistan in 259 A.H.(870A.D) He completed his earlier education at Farab and Bukhara but , later on , he went to Baghdad for higher studies There , he studied and workedfrom 901A.D. to 942A.D. During that period , he acquired mastery over several ********s as well as various branches of knowledge and technology He lived throughthe reign of six Abbasid Caliphs As a philoso-pher and scientist , he acquired great proficien-cy in various branches of learning and is reported to have been an expert in different ********s He died a bachelor in Damascus in 339 A.H.\950A.D. at theage of 80years Al-Farabi contributed considerably to science , philosophy , logic , sociology , medicine , mathe-matics and music His major contributions seem to be in philosophy , logic and sociology and of course , he stands out as an Encyclopedist

Assalamu Alykom IBN SINA (AVICENNE) (1037-980) Abu Ali-Hussain Ibn Abdallah Ibn Sina was born in 980 A.D. at Afshana near Bukhara The young Abu Ali received his early education in Bukhara , and by the age of ten , had become well versed in the study of the Qur 'an and var-ious sciences He started stdying philosophy by reading various Greek , Muslim and other books on this subject , and learnt logic and some other subjects from Abu Abdallah Natili , a famous philosopher of the time While still young , he attained such a degree of expertise in medicine that his renown spread far and wide Ibn Sina also contributed to mathematics , physics , music and other fields He was the most famous physician , philosopher , encyclo-pedist , mathematician and astronomer of his time His major contribution to medical sci-ence was his famous book ''Al-Qanun'' , known as the ''canon'' in the West The ''Qanun fi Al-Tibb'' is an immense encyclopedia of med-icine extending over a million words

Assalamu Alykom ABUL HASAN ALI IBN AL-MAS'UDI (Died 957A.D) ![]() Abul Hasan Ali Ibn Husain Ibn Ali Al-Mas'udi was a descendant of Abdallah Ibn Mas'ud , a companion of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him( An expert geographer , a physicist and historian , Mas'udi was born in the last decade of the 9th centry A.D ; his exact date of birth being unknown He was a Mutazilite Arab , who explored distant lands and died in Cairo in 957 A.D whatever he has recorded was with a scientif-ic approach and constituted an important con-tribution to geography , history and earth sci-ences It is interesting to note that he was one of the early scientists who propounded several aspects of evolution viz , from minerals to plant , plant to animal and animal to man His researches and views extensively influenced the sciences of historiography , geography and earth sciences for several countries

Assalamu Alykom MOHAMMAD BIN MUSA AL-KHAWARIZMI (Died840A.D) Abu Abdullah Mohammad Ibn Musa Al-Khawarizmi was born at Khawarizm , south of Aral sea Very little is known about his early life , except for the fact that his parents had migrated to a place south of Baghdad The exact dates of his birth and death are also not known , but it is established that he flourished under Al-Ma'mun in Baghdad through 813-833 A.D , and probably died around 840A.D Al-Khawarizmi was a mathematician , astrono-mer , and geographer He was , perhaps , one of the greatest mathematicians who ever lived , as , in fact , he was the founder of several branches and basic concepts of mathematics The influence of Al-Khawarizmi on the growth of science , in general , and mathematics , astronomy and geography , in particular , is well wstablished in history
