Does the punishment of the grave continue?
Does the punishment of the grave continue? ‘Abdullah bin Hamoud al-Furaih The Grave Does the punishment of the grave continue? Our Sheikh Al Othaimeen (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “If the person was a disbeliever –we seek Allah’s refuge from this, then he has no way to ever reach comforts and his punishment is continuous. If he was disobedient but he was a Muslim, then if he is punished in his grave then he is punished according to his disobedience. Maybe the punishment is because of his sins, which is less than the Barzakh, which is between his death and the coming of the Hour. At that time, he is cut off.”[1] Do the trials of the grave beneficial to the Muslim, by reducing his sins or similar? The Sheikh of Islam Ibn Taymiyya (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “the eighth reason: what happens in the grave from trials, pressure and splendor are among the (things) that reduce the sins.” He also said: “what happens to the believer in the world, the Barzakh and resurrection are among the pain that are punishments: with these Allah reduces his sins. It is confirmed in the two Sahihs about the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he said: “Nothing befalls the believer of disease, affliction, grief or harm, even a thorn which pricks him, but Allah will cause it to expiate for his sins.”[2] [1] Look at: Al Mumta' (3/253) [2] Look at: Majmu’ Al Fatawa (24/375)
