Does the punishment of the grave or its comforts (affect) the soul or the body?
Does the punishment of the grave or its comforts (affect) the soul or the body? ‘Abdullah bin Hamoud al-Furaih The Grave The punishement of the grave or its comforts happens for everyone, whoever they are. Regardless of whether (the deceased) is burned, drowned, was eaten by lions or birds or died in any other way, he travels from his state of death to his life of Barzakh regardless of whether he has been buried or not. That is because humans are made up on a body and soul. After death, these souls come out of the body and remain either punished or in comfort. Does the punishment of the grave or its comforts (affect) the soul or the body? The Sheikh of Islam, Ibn Taymiyya (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “the way of the pious predecessors of this community and their Imams is that the punishment and comfort happens to the souls of the deceased and his body. The soul remains after separating from the body, whether it is punished or comforted. It reaches the body sometimes so the comforts and punishment happen to it as well.”[1] Benefit: what was mentioned from the ways of the pious Imam predecessors was that the punishment of the grave occurs in the body and soul. The soul connects to the body in five places: 1. It is connected to the womb of the mother as a foetus, 2. It is connected to it after birth, 3. It is connected to it during sleep, 4. It is connected to it in the Barzakh and 5. It is connected to it on the Day of Resurrection [1] Look at: Majmu’ Al Fatawa (4/282)
