Assalamu alaykom wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatuh I have been receiving, for a while now, a lot of translated sayings by our prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him, and I have decided to add all of them here so non-arabic speaking muslims can benifit from such treasure Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “If anyone of you looked at a person who was made superior to him in property and (in good) appearance, then he should also look at the one who is inferior to him, and to whom he has been made superior. "Shahih Bukhari. Book 76 Volume No. 008 Hadith No. 497 Narated By Abu Huraira 30 - باب: لينظر إلى من هو أسفل منه، ولا ينظر إلى من هو فوقه. 6125 - حدثنا إسماعيل قال: حدثني مالك، عن أبي الزناد، عن الأعرج، عن أبي هريرة، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: (إذا نظر أحدكم إلى من فضل عليه في المال والخلق فلينظر إلى من هو أسفل منه). |
Delay In Paying Debts
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:""Procrastination (delay) in repaying debts by a wealthy person is injustice." Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.585 Narrated by Abu Huraira حدثنا مسدد حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن همام بن منبه أخي وهب بن منبه أنه سمع أبا هريرة رضي الله عنه يقول قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (مطل الغني ظلم). رواه البخاري |

Interpretation Of Dreams
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The worst lie is that a person claims to have seen a dream which he has not seen." Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 009 Book 087 Hadith number 167 Narrated by Ibn 'Umar روى البخاري عن واثلة بن الأسقع أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "إن من أعظم الفرى أن يدعي الرجل إلى غير أبيه، أو يري عينه ما لم تر، أو يقول على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما لم يقل". |
Charity
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Almighty Allah says: O son of Adam, if you spend the surplus, it will be better for you; and if you retain it, it will be bad for you. You will not be reprimanded for keeping what is enough for your needs. Begin with those who are your dependents, and the upper hand (i.e., the one that spends in the way of Alllah)is better than the lower hand (i.e., the one that receives charity) Sahih Muslim Hadith Number 552 Narrated By Abu Umamah (r.a.) حدثنا عبد الله ، حدثني أبي ، ثنا زيد بن يحيى الدمشقي ، ثنا عبد الله بن العلاء بن زبر قال : سمعت القاسم ـ مولى يزيد ـ يقول : حدثني أبو هريرة : (أنه سمع النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : إن الله عز و جل يقول : يا ابن آدم إن تعط الفضل فهو خير لك ، و إن تمسكه فهو شر لك ، و ابدأ بمن تعول ، و لا يلوم الله على الكفاف ، و اليد العليا خير لك من اليد السفلى . |
Give charity when healthy
A man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "O Allah's Apostle! What kind of charity is the best?" He (peace be upon him) replied. "To give in charity when you are healthy and greedy, hoping to be wealthy and afraid of becoming poor. Don't delay giving in charity till the time when you are on the death bed, when you say, 'Give so much to so-and-so and so much to so-and so,' and at that time the property is not (really) yours, but it belongs to so-and-so (i.e. your inheritors)." Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.11 Narrated by Abu Huraira حدثنا عبد الله ، حدثني أبي ، ثنا جرير بن عبد الحميد ، عن عمارة بن القعقاع ، عن أبي زرعة ، عن أبي هريرة قال : : (سئل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أي الصدقة أفضل ؟ قال : لتنبأن أن تتصدق و أنت صحيح شحيح تأمل البقاء و تخاف الفقر و لا تمهل ، حتى إذا بلغت الحلقوم قلت : لفلان كذا ، و لفلان كذا ألا وقد كان لفلان .). |

Double face person
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)said: "The worst people in the Sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be the double faced people who appear to some people with one face and to other people with another face." Sahih Al Bukhari Volume 008, Book 073, Hadith Number 084 Narrated by Abu Huraira: أخبرنا أبو علي الحسين بن محمد الروذباري أنا أبو علي إسماعيل بن محمد بن إسماعيل الصفار ثنا محمد بن عبد الملك الدقيقي ثنا روح بن عبادة ثنا مالك عن أبي الزناد عن الأعرج عن أبي هريرة : ( أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : من أسوأ الناس ذو الوجهين الذي يأتي هؤلاء بوجه و هؤلاء بوجه و إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : إياكم و الظن فإن الظن أكذب الحديث و لا تحسسوا و لا تجسسوا و لا تحاسدوا و لا تباغضوا و كونوا عباد الله إخواناً . روى مسلم الحديثين عن يحيى بن يحيى عن مالك و روى البخاري الحديث الثاني عن عبد الله بن يوسف عن مالك .). |
Bodily desires
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “A wise person is one who keeps a watch over his bodily desires and passions, and checks himself from that which is harmful and strives for that which will benefit him after death; and a foolish person is one who subordinates himself to his cravings and desires and expects from God the fulfillments of his futile desires” Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 66 Narrated by AbuYa'la ibn Shaddad ibn Aws حدثنا سفيان بن وكيع حدثنا عيسى بن يونس عن أبي بكر بن أبي مريم ح وحدثنا عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن أخبرنا عمرو بن عون أخبرنا بن المبارك عن أبي بكر بن أبي مريم عن ضمرة بن حبيب عن شداد بن أوس عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : (الكيس من دان نفسه وعمل لما بعد الموت والعاجز من أتبع نفسه هواها وتمنى على الله قال هذا حديث حسن قال ومعنى قوله من دان نفسه يقول حاسب نفسه في الدنيا قبل أن يحاسب يوم القيامة ويروى عن عمر بن الخطاب قال حاسبوا أنفسكم قبل أن تحاسبوا وتزينوا للعرض الأكبر وإنما يخف الحساب يوم القيامة على من حاسب نفسه في الدنيا ويروى عن ميمون بن مهران قال لا يكون العبد تقيا حتى يحاسب نفسه كما يحاسب شريكه من أين مطعمه وملبسه). |

Unjustified Profit - Riba
Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 3.101a The Messenger of Allah (saws)] mentioned a man who had traveled for a long time. Unkempt and covered in dust, he raised his hands to the heavens (and cried): `O my Lord…..! O my Lord……!` His food was unlawful, his drink was unlawful, his clothing was unlawful, and what he had provided to sustain himself with was also unlawful. How could his invocation be accepted?" Related by Muslim. عن أبي هريرة قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (أيها الناس إن الله طيب لا يقبل إلا طيبا وإن الله أمر المؤمنين بما أمر به المرسلين فقال يا أيها الرسل كلوا من الطيبات واعملوا صالحا إني بما تعملون عليم وقال يا أيها الذين آمنوا كلوا من طيبات ما رزقناكم ثم ذكر الرجل يطيل السفر أشعث أغبر يمد يديه إلى السماء يا رب يا رب ومطعمه حرام ومشربه حرام وملبسه حرام وغذي بالحرام فأنى يستجاب لذلك). |
Death
Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported: Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said None of you should wish for death. If he is righteous, perhaps he may add to (his) good works, and if he is a sinner, possibly he may repent -in case he is given a longer life Sahih Al Bukhari Ahadith quoted from Riyad-us-Saliheen دثنا عبد الله بن محمد حدثنا هشام بن يوسف أخبرنا معمر عن الزهري عن أبي عبيد اسمه سعد بن عبيد مولى عبد الرحمن بن أزهر أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : (لا يتمنى أحدكم الموت إما محسنا فلعله يزداد وإما مسيئا فلعله يستعتب). |
Deeds by the intentions
Hadrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (r.a.) reported: ‘The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "The deeds are considered by the intentions, and a person will get the reward according to his intention. So whoever emigrated for Allah and His Messenger, his emigration will be for Allah and His Messenger; and whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration would be for what he emigrated for Related by Bukhari and Muslim Commentary [The reward of each and every act depends entirely upon the intention which inspired the act. Thus only those deeds which are done with the sole intention to earn the Pleasure and Good Will of Allah Subhanah will be acceptable to the Lord Most Gracious…..but a deed, however noble it may seem, if done with the intention of anything else other than earning the Pleasure and Good Will of the Lord would not be eligible to earn any rewards in the Presence of the Lord on the Day of Judgment] قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: إنما الأعمال بالنيات، وإنما لكل امرئ ما نوى، فمن كانت هجرته إلى الله ورسوله، فهجرته إلى الله ورسوله، ومن كانت هجرته لدنيا يصيبها أو امرأة ينكحها، فهجرته إلى ما هاجر إليه. متفق عليه من حديث عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه، وهو حديث متفق على صحته، أخرجه الأئمة المشهورون إلا مالكا. |
Sweetness of faith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the ‘sweetness of faith The one to whom Allah and Messenger (saws) becomes dearer than anything else Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah`s Sake Who hates to revert to disbelief just as he hates to be thrown into the fire Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.15 Narrated by Anas يقول صلى الله عليه وسلم: "ثلاث من كن فيه وجد بهن حلاوة الإيمان: أن يكون الله ورسوله أحب إليه مما سواهما، وأن يحب المرء لا يحبه إلا لله، وأن يكره أن يعود في الكفر بعد أن أنقذه الله منه كما يكره أن يقذف في النار" متفق عليه. |
White Clothes
Abdullah Ibn Abbas (r.a.) reported: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) saying, Put on white clothes because they are the best; and use them for shrouding your dead Related by At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud Commentary Although it is permissible for the believers to adorn themselves with almost any color clothes they wish and please, the Messenger of Allah (saws) encouraged the believers to prefer white clothes as they are the purest and closest to modesty; and he (saws) guided the believers to shroud the dead in white قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم: " البسوا من ثيابكم البياض، فإنها من خير ثيابكم، وكفنوا فيها أمواتكم " أخرجه أبو داود. |
Baraka Allah fik akhi Aba Sayf

Rewards for funeral prayer
Hadrat Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported: The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "Whoever follows the funeral procession and offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qirat, and whoever attends it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qirat.`` It was asked, "What are two Qirat?`` He (PBUH) replied, "Equal to two huge mountains Related by Bukhari and Muslim Commentary The Messenger of Allah (saws) encouraged the believers to attend the burial of their believing brethren stating that one who follows the funeral and offers the prayer would get a reward as huge as a mountain….and if one follows the burial, offers the funeral prayer, and waits till the deceased is buried in the grave one would be entitled to earn a reward of two huge mountains عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من شهد الجنازة حتى يصلي فله قيراط ومن شهد حتى تدفن كان له قيراطان قيل وما القيراطان قال مثل الجبلين العظيمين . فتح الباري بشرح صحيح البخاري |
Nafl prayers
Umm Habibah (r.a.) the mother of the believers, reported:'I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, A house will be built in Jannah for every believer who offers twelve Rakah of optional prayer other than the obligatory prayer in a day and a night Related by Muslim Commentary If one makes it a practice to offer (at least) twelve extra rakahs in addition to the five obligatory prayers, the Messenger of Allah (saws) gave them the glad tiding of a house which would be built for them in Paradise. The twelve extra (or Nafl) rakahs which the Prophet (saws) never failed to offer, and which are known as Sunnah Muaqqedah are: Two rakahs before the 'Fajr' prayer. Four rakahs before the 'Dhuhr' prayer and two rakahs after it. Two rakahs after the 'Magrib' prayer. Two rakahs after the 'Isha' prayer. عن أم حبيبة رضي الله عنها في سنن الترمذي ، قالت سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم يقول: "من صلى في يوم وليلة ثنتي عشرة ركعة بني له بيت في الجنة: أربعاً قبل الظهر، وركعتين بعدها، وركعتين بعد المغرب، وركعتين بعد العشاء، وركعتين قبل صلاة الفجر". |
Sign of Allah's Help
Muawiyah (r.a.) reported: The Messenger of Allah said "When Allah wishes good for someone, He bestows upon him the understanding of 'deen' (religion).'' Related by Bukhari and Muslim. Riyah-us-Saliheen hadith 1376 Commentary Knowledge and understanding of the 'deen' (religion) here stands for the understanding of the Qur'an and the Hadith, religious injunctions, and knowledge of the lawful and the unlawful. This narration highlights the excellence of knowledge and the fact that it is a sign of Allah's Help to the person who possesses it and acts upon it حدثنا سعيد بن عفير قال حدثنا بن وهب عن يونس عن بن شهاب قال قال حميد بن عبد الرحمن سمعت معاوية خطيبا يقول سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول :(من يرد الله به خيرا يفقهه في الدين وإنما أنا قاسم والله يعطي ولن تزال هذه الأمة قائمة على أمر الله لا يضرهم من خالفهم حتى يأتي أمر الله). رواه البخاري |
Eating With Left and
Jabir (r.a.) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) as saying: "Do not eat with your left hand, because the Shaytaan eats and drinks with his left hand.`` Related by Muslim Commentary It is absolutely and categorically prohibited for a believer to eat or drink with their left hand as the enemy of Allah Subhanah and mankind, the accursed Shaytaan eats and drinks with his left hand حدثنا بشر بن الوليد الكندي ، حدثنا أبو عقيل يعني يحيى بن المتوكل ، أخبرنا القاسم بن عبيد الله ، عن سالم ، عن أبيه عبد الله بن عمر عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : : ( لا تأكلوا بشمالكم ولا تشربوا بها ، فإن الشيطان يأكل بها ويشرب بها .). |

Burial
Hadrat Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) saying,"Hurry up with the dead body (for its burial), for if it is pious, you are speeding it to goodness; and if it is otherwise, you are laying an evil off your necks Related by Bukhari and Muslim Commentary The Messenger of Allah (saws) guided the believers to hasten and not delay the burial, without an absolutely genuine reason, of any deceased….for if the deceased was pious, it would be speeded towards goodness in its grave; and if the deceased was otherwise, a burden would be hastened away from mankind. وحدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وزهير بن حرب جميعا عن بن عيينة قال أبو بكر حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري عن سعيد عن أبي هريرة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : (أسرعوا بالجنازة فإن تك صالحة فخير لعلة قال تقدمونها عليه وإن تكن غير ذلك فشر تضعونه عن رقابكم). رواه مسلم |
The cloak of a true believer
Hadrat Muadh bin Anas (r.a.) reported: ‘The Messenger of Allah (saws) said,"Whoever gives up wearing elegant and expensive garments out of humbleness, when he can do so, Allah will call him on the Day of Resurrection and before all the creations, He will give him the choice to wear whichever garment of ‘Iman’ he would like to wear Related by At-Tirmidhi Commentary The cloak of a true believer who sincerely fears Allah and the Last Day should be modesty and humility. If one gives up the wearing of elegant or expensive clothes (or indulging in extravagance and luxury) when one has the ability to do so, Allah Subhanah will bestow honor on such a believer in front of all creation on the Day of Resurrection حدثنا عباس بن محمد الدوري حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ حدثنا سعيد بن أبي أيوب عن أبي مرحوم عبد الرحيم بن ميمون عن سهل بن معاذ بن أنس الجهني عن أبيه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : (من ترك اللباس تواضعا لله وهو يقدر عليه دعاه الله يوم القيامة على رءوس الخلائق حتى يخيره من أي حلل الإيمان شاء يلبسها هذا حديث حسن ومعنى قوله حلل الإيمان يعني ما يعطى أهل الإيمان من حلل الجنة). قال الترمذي : حديث حسن |
Hadrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal (r.a.) reported: ‘The Messenger of Allah (saws) said,"There is a Salat (prayer) between every Adhan and Iqamah; there is a Salat between every Adhan and Iqamah.`` (While saying the same for the) third time (the Prophet (saws) added), "It is for him who desires (to perform it) Related by Bukhari and Muslim Commentary It is desirable to offer a short two-rakah ‘nafl’ prayer between the time the Adhaan is declared and the Iqaamah is established وحدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو أسامة ووكيع عن كهمس قال حدثنا عبد الله بن بريدة عن عبد الله بن مغفل المزني قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (بين كل أذانين صلاة قالها ثلاثا قال في الثالثة لمن شاء). رواه مسلم |
