Shining Lamp

The holy verse:

God be he exalted says: (And We have made (therein) a shining lamp (sun), and We have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water.) [Surat An-Naba, verse: 13, 14].

The explanation of the verse:

The holy verses talk about some of Gods' graces such as the earth that is settled for us, the mountains as pegs to fix the earth, the grace of the night and day and He be exalted also talked about an important grace for living on earth which is the sun and He called it the shining lamp.

The commentators say: the lamp means: the sun, we have made means: we created, shining means: glowing and the glow combines both light and heat.

The scientific fact:

Scientists have found that the sun is one of the stars in the universe and it is a lamp that works with nuclear fuel, as the hydrogen reacts and its atoms merge with each other and produce helium atoms that transmit heat and energy.

The scientists say that the sun produces flames; its length reaches hundreds of thousands of kilometers and it produces large amounts of heat and energy. The sun burns more than 4 million tons of substance per second, all of it turns into heat and energy and radiation of all kinds.

The point of inimitability:

From the previous verses and through the scientific facts, we see that the Quran called the sun: the lamp and this naming is scientifically true because the sun already does the work of a bright lamp, and this is one of the signs of the miraculous nature of the Quran and that it is a book sent down by Almighty God.

The Purity

The Prophet peace be upon him has considered the purity half the faith and we have to follow this virtuous prophetic manner, but what are the benefits of purity? Let us read……

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said: (The purity is half the faith) [Narrated by Muslim]. This holy Hadith lays stress upon the importance of the body cleanliness and now we all know the importance of this for protecting us from almost all the diseases. The purity of the body means getting rid of most germs and dust that suspend on to it and this means the protection from many diseases such as skin and mouth diseases. The continual purity of the face and hands means reducing the number of germs that enter through the mouth and nose and that means the prevention of the respiratory and digestive diseases. Therefore the Prophet peace be upon him considered the purity half the faith!

And from the methods of the prophetic purity is that the Prophet peace be upon him forbade urinating in water and it was discovered that humans urine contains many germs that can be transmitted to another human being through water and that the urine especially in stagnant water causes the spread of many epidemics such as cholera, typhoid and polio.

Among the methods of purification is cleaning up well after urinating and a great medical impact was proved to whom follow this good habit. The fully removal of impurity protects the human from many reproductive system diseases and many infections and suppuration.

The faithful must have a bath at least once a week in order to clean the surface of the skin from dirt, bacteria, germs, fungi and the remnants of sweating and so on. And this helps in the protection from skin diseases and improving the skin breath and maintenance of its pores.

And also among the methods of prophetic purification is washing hands when waking up to remove what is suspended on them during sleeping from germs, fats and remnants of sweating. Hence, we can deduce the importance of this Hadith as the Prophet peace be upon him says: (If one of you wakes up from his sleep, he shouldn't put his hand into a vessel until he washes it three times) [Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Sweet and Salt

The scientists have studied the downstream area of the river into the sea, they found that this area has specific characteristics as it is moderate in salinity and density while at both ends we find a sweet river (palatable and sweet) and a sea with excess salinity (salt and bitter). And this downstream area is ecologically very sensitive and it works on isolating the sea from the river otherwise the salty water will mix with fresh water and all the rivers in the world will be spoiled.

Through this scientific fact, it is shown that this region that separates the sweet river from the salty sea is a very important region and it has different characteristics than that of both seas (the sweet and the salty). Scientists have found also that it has specific creatures that live only in it like some kinds of fish.

The Quran talked about this grace (a barrier and a complete partition between them) which means the forbidden area from the tyranny of the sea and it is one of the miracles of the holy Quran. So we have to thank God for this grace. God be he exalted says:

(And it is He Who has let free the two seas (kinds of water): this is palatable and sweet, and that is salt and bitter; and He has set a barrier and a complete partition between them.)

[Surat Al-Furqan, verse: 53]

Tightened Sky

God be he exalted says:

(by the tightened sky, certainly you have different ideas) [Surat Az-Zariyat, verse: 7, 8].

Great and Almighty God swears by the tightened sky that those liars and ungrateful people for Gods’ signs, their speech is full of differences and contradictions and that all the false accusations they say on Allah, his prophet and Quran is such an illusion with no base.

In 1999, a group of scientists in Britain, Canada, USA and Germany have done a planned design for the universe to show the points of the galaxies on it. It was shown that the galaxies are spread and distributed on threads that look like the web. Therefore the scientists considered that the universe has a tightened texture.

The miracle in this verse is related to astronomy as it talked about a scientific fact that wasn’t discovered except at the end of the 20th century which is the reality of the tightened universe texture.

The End of the Sun

The Holy Verse:

God be he exalted says: (When the sun is wound round and its light is lost and is overthrown)[Surat At-Takwir, verse: 1].

The Explanation of the Verse:

The verse talks about a universal fact which is the end of the sun, stars, mountains and seas. As the sun which we see nowadays shiny and bright, one day it will wound round and its fuel will be consumed and lost and it will vanish like all the creatures and nothing will remain except God. The commentators say: (When the sun is wound round) means that if the light of the sun is gone and lost.

The Scientific Fact:

After the great development in astronomy, it was discovered to scientists that the sun burns its fuel at the rate of 4 million tons per second. And by the time it will consume its fuel and turn into a star that scientists call "The Red Giant" and then it will shrink itself and turn into another star called by scientists "The White Dwarf" and after that it will die slowlyand its light is lost and overthrown.

The Point of Inimitability:

The scientific miracle of Quran here occurs in talking about the end of the sun at a time no one was aware of this as God be he blessed and exalted says: (When the sun is wound round and its light is lost and is overthrown). All the commentators said that one day the sun will disappear and its light is lost, and this is confirmed by all astronomers.

Hailstones

The Holy Verse:

God says: (See you not that Allâh drives the clouds gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap of layers, and you see the rain comes forth from between them; and He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains, (or there are in the heaven mountains of hail from where He sends down hail), and strikes therewith whom He wills, and averts it from whom He wills. The vivid flash of its (clouds) lightning nearly blinds the sight.)[Surat An-Nur, verse: 43].

The Explanation of the Verse:

The explainers say: See you not that Allâh drives the clouds gently means that Goddrives and pushes the clouds easily and gently, then joins them together, He collects a cloud with another, then makes them into a heap of layers means cumulus clouds over each other, and you see the rain comes forth from between them, you see the rain coming out of them, and He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains means that they are wonderful pieces like mountains.

The Scientific Fact:

Scientists have recently made dazzling discoveries about the formation of hail in the clouds and noticed that the first thing formed is the cloud that is pushed by the wind till it meets another cloud, and that's how the clouds are collected over each other by the air currents called pushing streams until they form the cumulus clouds.

Then, when the cumulus clouds rise up for several kilometers, the hailstones begin to be formed and then by air currents they start to fall on the ground, while some of them stay in the clouds and others melt before reaching the ground. Scientists say that the hail is always accompanied by lightning flashes.

The Point of Inimitability:

We notice from these facts that the holy Quran corresponds with modern science in its sayings about the formation of hail and the role of wind in the formation of cumulus clouds and that the lightning is formed in the clouds that contain the hailstones. Scientists say that the hail is formed only in the high cumulus clouds, therefore God be he exalted says: (and He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains, (or there are in the heaven mountains of hail from where He sends down hail). And this is from the inimitability of Quran, so who could have known at that time these detailed information if Muhammad wasn't a messenger from God!

Mountains

God says:

(Have We not made the earth a receptacle, for the living and the dead?, And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains, and have given you to drink sweet water?)

[Surat Al-Mursalat, verse: 25-27]

The scientific truth:

Scientists have found that the mountains contribute significantly in forming the clouds, as when the air currents loaded with water vapor come near the mountains, they bow to these mountains and rise up , which means that the mountains contribute in rising up the water vapor atoms. Therefore we notice that the tops of the high mountains are mostly covered with snow. And scientists have found that the water found near the high mountains is very pure.

The point of inimitability:

The inimitability in the previous verse appears with what scientists have discovered from scientific truths that there is a relation between fresh water and high mountains, as the mountains help in the formation of clouds and snowfall that then melts and changes into fresh water that we often find near these mountains.

The inimitability appears also with what the Quran has stated: the tall mountains and fresh sweet water, and this sign indicates that the Quran has preceded the scientists to this scientific truth which testifies the miraculous nature of the holy Quran and the truthfulness of Islam.

The Forelock

Scientists have recently discovered that a significant activity occurs in the upper front part of the brain (forelock) when the man lies or make specific errors. Therefore scientists have decided that the center of lying and error in humans is in the upper front part of the brain which is called the frontal lobe, God be he exalted says:

(Nay! If he (Abû Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock -A lying, sinful forelock!)

[Surat Al-Alaq, verses: 15-16]

The Quran described the upper front part of the humans' brain (forelock) with two properties lying and error. It was proved for doctors recently the relation between this region and lying and error in humans, they had no knowledge of that at the time of the descent of this verse. Therefore this verse is considered to be one of the signs of the miraculous nature of the holy Quran and that it is a book that doesn't contradict with the definite science.

The Burning Sea

The sea world is full of secrets, but scientists have discovered the existence of volcanoes that flow from the depths of the seas, they throw molten lava stones that are liquid stones with very high temperature, and these molten substances come out from the sea and raise the temperature of the sea water.

The Quran talked about this phenomenon as God says:

(And by the Burning sea)

[Surat At-Tur, verse: 6]

And the word (Al-Masjoor) means the burning and flammable, scientists say that this phenomenon (the phenomenon of the burning sea) exists in all the seas of the world..

Mountain Pegs

When scientists have studied the earth crust, they found that this layer of the earth layers isn't equal in thickness; it varies from a region to another. And what is strange is that the regions of the crust that are under the mountains are very thick. Scientists have found that for each mountain there is a root that extends under the ground for tens of kilometers and even the pictures drawn by scientists for the mountains show these mountains like pegs embedded in the ground. It was proved that these pegs fix the earth crust and the lithosphere beneath so as the earth wouldn't be disordered. God be he exalted says:

(Have We not made the earth as a bed, And the mountains as pegs?)

[Surat An-Nabaa, verse: 6, 7]

God talks in these two verses about his many graces as he made the earth suitable for us to live on and made the mountains as pegs to fix the ground, so Glory to God!
