Scientists consider this phenomenon as a natural miracle, but we as Muslims believe that Allah, the almighty knows all that’s in the womb and he creates whatever he wishes all glory to Allah…..let’s read.. …

Allah, the exalted says in the Holy Qur’an:” He it is Who shapes youIn the wombs as He pleases.There is no god but He,The Exalted in Might,The Wise.”Al-i- Imran or the Family of Imran: 6

Accordingly, it’s Allah who shapes the fetus in the mother’s womb in the shape Allah has destined for him and no one could interfere in the course of accurate processes that take place during the fetaldevelopment. Despite the great medical advancement, any human interference leads to fetal deformation just like what happens in failure human cloning attempts.

However, every now and then, weird cases occur that call for contemplation and meditation to realise the glory of Allah, the creator the almighty. A Californian woman, for instance, has recorded the weirdestsecond birth giving of its kind when she gave birth to eight alive twins;this astonished physicians who were expecting only seven twins in the mother’s womb.

The average weights of the twins were between 800 GMs and 1.5 KGs and six of them are boys and they are all in good health in baby incubators after a caesarian operation according to the physicians at “Caesar” Hospital in Bellflower in the state of California.

Although three twins still need ventilators, none of the twins have been noticed to have any serious problems. The expectant mother started having pains in the twenty third month when she was admitted to the hospital where she spent seven weeks and got bed rest.

During her stay at the hospital, a staff of 46 physicians and nurses took care of her and remained alert and ready for the birth that took place nine weeks before its due date. Dr. Harold Henry, head of the nursery dept. at the hospital said that knowing the real number of twins was hard especially with all these twins in the womb adding "it's easy to make mistakes when you expect that there are seven twins.”

Doctors said that the first week particularly the first three days will be critical for the eight twins and they confirmed that the mother is in a very good condition and that she's excited and amazed by those eight babies. The first birth of eight twins in the USA took place in 1998 in Huston, Texas but one of the twins passed away a couple of days later while the other seven are celebrating their tenth birthday currently.

She gave birth to eight twins, thus she caused an ethical debate

When more information was revealed about the twins’ mother, an ethical debate started to take place about the possibility of the involvement of the artificial insemination center in an unethical case especially that the mother has six more children while the maternal grandfather said that his daughter wanted to have only one kid and didn’t expect eight twins.

It’s still unknown how the mother ended up having eight embryos for the maternal grandmother said in a press release to the Los Angeles Times that her daughter underwent artificial insemination and the embryos were implanted. Sara Rosenthal, professor of bioethics at the science faculty in the University ofKentucky says: “if the mother underwentartificial insemination, this raises ethical issues that implanting eight embryos is considered irresponsible and unethical ….it shouldn’t have happened.”

Physicians say that giving birth to many twins exposes mothers’ and twins lives to many dangers such as cerebral hemorrhage, intestine problems, growth retardation, and eternal learning disabilities. In Europe, mainly in Germany and Italy, and according to Prof. Robert George of Brenston University, it's prohibited to implant more than three embryos each time.

The other debate that this issue raised is the mother's mental health because choosing artificial insemination while being able to give birth naturally reflects concern about hersanity. This case also raised the point that the mother has also six children though she’s unmarried which means that seeking more kids is questionable.

The big question, however, is about the physicians who were in charge of the artificial insemination and whodidn’t ask her any questions neither personal nor health in addition to not questioning the mother’s desire to have more children. This woman has been recorded as the weirdest second birth of its kind when she gave birth to eight alive twins, a thing that astonished the physicians who were expecting to find only seven twins in the mother's womb.

Dear readers, imagine that despite the great medical advancement, the physicians didn’t know how many twins were in the mother’s womb. Hence, Allah, the almighty says in the holy Qur’an:

“God doth know whatEvery female (womb) doth bear,By how much the wombs

Fall short (of their timeOr number) or do exceed.Every single thing is before

His sight, in (due) proportion.He knoweth the UnseenAnd that which is open:

He is the Great,The most High. “Ra’d or Thunder: 8-9 (Ibid)

Scientists affirm that knowing the precise number of embryos when their number is huge is a hard thing. Physicians might be astonished by such cases and call them “natural miracles. We as Muslims, however, consider it a divine miracle to realise the glory and might of the creator, the almighty; Allah says:

“To God belongs the dominionOf the heavens and the earth.He creates what He wills

(And plans). He bestows(Children) male or femaleAccording to His Will (and Plan),

Or He bestows both malesAnd females, and He leavesBarren whom He will:

For He is fullOf knowledge and power.“Shura or the Constellation: 49- 50 (Ibid)

This also reminds us of the following verses:

“She said: "O my Lord!How shall I have a sonWhen no man hath touched me?"

He said: "Even so:God createthWhat He willeth:When He hath decreed

A Plan, He but saithTo it, 'Be,' and it is!”AL-i Imran or the Family of Imran: 47 (Ibid)

Allah says: “Why by Lord does create and chooseAs He pleases: no choice

Have they (in the matter):Glory to God! and farIs He above the partners

They ascribe (to Him)!“Qasas or the Narration: 68 (Ibid)

I’d like to add that resorting to artificial insemination and staying away from the instinct of Allah, the great always causes serious consequences. Let's contemplate the fact that scientists aren't able to ******* the operationsthat take place inside the womb despite the great medical advancement, so how could atheists claim that the blind nature and by mere coincidence could create a baby that can see and hear?

Allah pointed to the importance of night and that it’s a way to ideal and comfortable sleep and as if it’s like a cover that protects human from physical and psychological problems. Allah says” And it is He Who makes the night a covering for you, and the sleep (as) repose, and makes the day Nushur (i.e. getting up and going about here and there for daily work, etc. after one's sleep at night or like resurrection after one's death)”{ALforkan- verse 47}

A Study Asserts the Significance of Work


Numerous studies and research constantly prove that the teachings of Islam are in consistent with science and mind including the following American study that asserts the significance of work for man’s life.. …

American researchers have found that working hard, persistently, and regularly is associated with longevity. Researchers at the University of California have discovered that people who love to work and aspire to progress are more likely to live four more years than reckless ones who waste their money on their lower desires. Besides, it’s been discovered that disciplined people who are determined to achieve their goals are happier and more stable than others because they stay away from illegal drugs, intoxicants, and risks, an attitude that make them healthier. The study has revealed that the awareness rate plays a role in the death issue for it’s considered an influential factor on medical risks and fortunes.

Prof. Howard Friedman who conducted this study says: “aware people not only have better health habits, but they also live in healthier environments and have more secured jobs and their relationships are stronger and more solid; there's evidence that people become more aware when they have secure jobs and enjoy good marriages.”

The study which was published at the “health psychology” journal has emphasized the idea that being guided, persistent, and organised, in addition towanting to attain a certain achievement are the most important factors in man’s life.

Based on the previous study, we can see that Islam guides us to all that's useful for us in this world and in the hereafter for Allah, the almighty urges us to work and even tells us that Allah will observe our work on the Day of Judgment; Allah says in the holy Qur’an:

And say: "Work (righteousness):,Soon will God observe your work,And His Apostle, and the Believers:Soon will ye be brought backTo the Knower of what isHidden and what is open:

Then will He show youThe truth of all that ye did."Tauba or Repentance: 105 (Ibid)

Islam also urges us to be ethical; in fact what countsmost on the Day of Judgment is man’s morals and ethics and the closest people to Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, in paradise are the most moral ones according to what prophet Mohammad, PBUH, told us.

Islam also forbids drinking wine and intoxicants and chasing lower desires, as well as futility, idle tales, and back biting and commands us on the other hand to be modest and work hard and most importantly to work sincerely and to the best of ourcapacities. Accordingly, we can say that the teachings of Islam are in harmony with science and mind unlike the claim that Islam contradicts science and mind.

A New Study confirms that Pigs are the Source of the New Flu


This is a new study that affirms that pigs are the main source of the fatal fluvirus,H1N1, which has been threatening the lives of millions of people…….. …

Researchers in Mexico city have said that world health officials have underestimated the dangers caused by big herds as a potential source for new strains of flue and have chosen to focus on the threat represented in avian flu.

Researchers have analyzed samples taken from patients that have been infected with the new swine virus, H1N1, which has been proven to have infected more than 26000 (within almost a month of the disease outbreak). American health officials say that this number reflects just a small part of the real number of the infected patients.

Gerardo Nava of the Independent National University of Mexico and his colleagues stated in a report that was published in the "Eurosurveillance" periodicalin the internet that “this virus have most probably developed from swine flu viruses that have appeared recently.” “These results indicate that local pigs in North America might have a pivotal role in the appearance and protection of this virus.”

Universal pork industry representatives have hastened to defend pork products saying that pork doesn't constitute any threat to the lives of people. Health experts, however, pointed out that no surveillance efforts what so ever have been made to track the flu among pigs although the virus is very widespread among them and can be transmitted among them in the same manner it’s transmitting among people.

Flu viruses have also shown that they are transmitted from pigs to people and also from people to pigs. Nava and his colleagues wrote the following:

These surveillance processes also confirms the potential danger that pig herds might be the source of the coming flu virus pandemic. Although pig houses (as a mixing vessel) of H1N1were affirmed more than ten years ago, it seems that policy makers and the scientific community have underestimated it.”

“The team studied all the available genetic strains of virus H1N1 that appeared in North America during the last two years and they found that H1N1 have existed since the 1918 pandemic and that it infects both people and pigs and constantly mutates.”

The researchers haven’t found many samples and Nava said that this reflects the small number of tests that have been made to observe the flu among the pig herds adding “I think we have forgotten pig farms.”

Nava added that experts have started to call on the improvement offlu surveillance among pigs in 1998 and he demanded promoting swine tests saying that farmers, producers, and government officials must study the highly expensive possibility of mass slaughter of the infected pigs. He also says that fast slaughter of all pig herds would help ******* the spread of avian flu.

Pig farmers, however, usually slow down when the flu spreads among the herds for it rarely causes a severe disease among the pigs.

Nava said that “the problem isn’t that pigs won’t die or even that they transmit the virus to people; the problem is that the virus remodels itself(in the pig’s body) and acquires a new genetic strain and new genes.”

Nava and his colleagues said that the concentration of officials on avian flu made them ignore a more serious source for new flu viruses and that is pigs and the people who have contact with them.

Nava said that concerns about pork industry loss might have made the responsible people for these animals and for people's health overcautious adding “we understand the commercial interests.”

The American agricultural ministry said that it will start a new pilot surveillance project to search for new strains of flu viruses among pigs.

We say: All Praise to Allah

Allah, the Almighty prevented eating pork fourteen centuries ago at a time when no one knew anything about the dangers of eating pork and this proves that the holy Qur’an is the word of Allah who knows what's secret and yet what's more hidden. We glorify Allah because only recently some atheists objected saying that eating pork doesn’t cause swine flu and that it’s only transmitted through contact with pigs. However, scientifically speaking, this is inaccurate for as we have seen through this study, scientists have started to seriously search for a relationship between pig farming and pork industry on one hand and the development of this virus on the other and they admit that they haven’t studied this issue sufficiently. That’s why we say that time will undoubtedly prove the dangers of eating pork just like scientists have proven the dangers of drinking alcohol until they concluded that merely little alcohol causes damage to expectant mothers and fetal abnormalities in the mother’s womb and also causes liver and brain damage for men.

Let’s read the following Qur’anic verses:

“He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of God. but if one is forced by necessity, withoutwilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,— then is he guiltless. for God is Oft-forgiving most Merciful.”Baqara: 173

If Prophet Mohammad, PBUH,” was lying to God” as some claim, why did he forbid eating pork? Why did he forbid drinking alcohol? Why did he forbidshameful deeds? Science has proven the absolute cons and damage of all such things. The answer is very simple, Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, hasn’t come up with anything from his own mind, but he’s rather exactly as Allah, the exalted says in the holy Qur'an:

“But when our clear signs are rehearsed unto them, those who rest not their hope on their meeting with us, say: "bring us a reading other than this, or change this," say: "It is not for me, of my own accord, to change it: I follow naught but what is revealed unto me: if I were to disobey my Lord, I should myself fear the Penalty of a Great Day (to come)." Say: "If God had so willed, I should not have rehearsed it to you, nor whould He have made it known to you. A whole life-time before this have I tarried amongst you: will ye not then understand?Who doth more wrong than such as forge a lie against God, or deny His Signs? But never will prosper those who sin.” Yunus or Jonah: 15- 17

Contemplate with me how Allah, the great commands us to avoid suspicion as much as possible and not just to avoid little suspicion because merely little suspicion could cause many problems. This shows how Islam pays extra attention to help us avoid the smallest problem ever.

They add that smelling a fragrant smell before sleeping helps strengthen what man has learned during the day. Other studies have also affirmed that fragrant smells help man attain psychological stability. We glorify Allah because Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, pointed out the significance of good smells; he said: “I was made to love women and fragrance of your world and the comfort of my eye* has been made in prayer.” narrated by al-Tabarani.

* This means that prayer was the dearest thing ever to Prophet Mohammad, pbuh, for through it he attained peace of mind and it helped him as well as believers forget their distresses.
