افتراضي Laws Of the Holy Qura'n - The Law of the Good Life

As-salamuAlikum =)

This is a translation of a lecture from a series of lectures called “The Laws of The Holy Qur’an” given by Dr.Rateb Al Nabulsi, a
prominent Muslim scholar, may God reward him and bless him for his knowledge and allow us to benefit from him, Amen.
This lecture is called “The Law of The Good Life”, and insha’Allah it will be divided into two parts, so here is the first part.

----------———————————————————–

]
Who Wouldn’t wish for a good life? who wouldn’t wish to live a sound and pleasant life?

Humans had been made to love their existence, to love its wellness, to love its wholeness and to love its consistency. That’s the condition of any man on earth, but then where would the suffering come from? The suffering comes from ignorance, the most ferocious of enemies to man, and an ignorant person will always do him self severe harm that even his own enemies won’t be able to bring about.

That’s why we say that if you wanted the world then hold on to the knowledge, and if you wanted the afterlife then hold on to the knoweldge and you if you wanted them both then hold on to the knowledge still.
But the knowledge wont yield to give you some of itself until you give it all of yourself, so if you only gave away some of yourself it shall give you nothing in return. And a man remains a scientist (a knowledge seeker) for as long as he seeks the knowledge, but the moment he think he had the knowledge is the moment he had lost it all.

The Whole World has yielded to you:

If you would give thoughts in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and if you would reflect upon the Noble Qur’an, this talking Universe, and if you would contemplate the Sunnah of the best of God’s creation on earth (PBUH), and he was the walking Qur’an, you would have came to understand the ultimate truth about this universe: That the whole universe was all subjected to man and the evidence is in God’s , subhanahu w ta’ala, words::

“And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth – all from Him. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. (13)” Al-Jaathiya
Then if you would know the world, the lower life as God has called it, because it is nothing but a preliminary phase for a higher life to come, a life that shall have :

” what no eye has ever seen, or heart has ever wondered” (extracted by Al-Bukhhari and Muslim and Al-Termizzy from Abi-Hurraiyra)
Then he will come to know the truth of man to be the most exalted between all of God’s creations and that is because he accepted to hold the trust. That he is the most honored because again he accepted to hold the trust. He is the creation that was charged of worshiping Allah, the most gracious, and Worshiping in itself is a state of submission mingled with love that is all based upon knowledge of the heart and would lead to an everlasting happiness.

Now Imagine with me someone who have been to France for example, and spent the first night in a hotel there, and when he woke up in the morning he asked: where should I go?! we would ask him then: what made you come here in the first place? if you were a business man then go to the companies and if you were a tourist then go to the museums and landscapes and if you were a student then go the universities.
When would the journey be legitimate? when the destination is known. So, you know that God has created you for a paradise of the heavens’ and the earth’s width then made you in this world to know Him,to know His path, and to get yourself to obey Him, and to get closer to Him with the good deeds. That’s when your journey is legitimate.

..To Be Continued insha’Allah
