![]() What are the reckoning and their proof? ‘Abdullah bin Hamoud al-Furaih The Accounts (2) What are the reckoning and their proof?Linguistically: it is accounting In the Shariah: the viewing by Allah Almighty over the actions of His slaves • The reckoning are confirmed in the book, the Sunnah and the concensus From the book: His words Almighty: ﴿ إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ * ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُ ﴾ “Indeed, to Us is their return. Then indeed, upon Us is their account.” [Al Ghashiya: 25-26] From the Sunnah: the Hadith of `A'ishah PBUT that is agreed upon, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “(On the Day of Resurrection) any one whose account will be taken will be ruined (i.e. go to Hell)." I said, "O Allah's Messenger! May Allah make me be sacrificed for you. Doesn't Allah say: ﴿ فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ * فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا ﴾ “Then as for him who will be given his record in his right hand, he surely will receive an easy reckoning?” [Al Inshiqaq: 7-8] He replied, "That is only the presentation of the reckoning; but he whose record is questioned, will be ruined.”[1] What is meant is that if the slave is accounted a detailed account about his deeds that are not acceptable by Allah Almighty, he will perish because his deeds will not save him except by the mercy of Allah Almighty. We ask Allah from His great favour The Muslims have agreed upon the Proof to the reckoning on the Day of Resurrection and among those will be the 70,000 as will follow [1] Narrated by Al Bukhari (4939). Narrated by Muslim (2876)
