![]() the situation of the pious on the Day of Resurrection ‘Abdullah bin Hamoud al-Furaih The condition of the people on the Day of Resurrection (the Muslims) the situation of the pious on the Day of ResurrectionThat is the situation of those with glad tidings from among them –we ask Allah for His permission for this. The narrations have come clarifying their situations on that great day. We will mention their situations. Their descriptions are as follows: 1.They are not frightened, are not sad and do not panic if people panic on the Day of Great Panic Allah Almighty says: {أَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاء اللّهِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ * الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَكَانُواْ يَتَّقُونَ * لَهُمُ الْبُشْرَى فِي الْحَياةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الآخِرَةِ لاَ تَبْدِيلَ لِكَلِمَاتِ اللّهِ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ } " Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and were fearing Allah. For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter. No change is there in the words of Allah. That is what is the great attainment. " [Yunus: 62-64] He also said: {يَا عِبَادِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ وَلَا أَنتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ } " [To whom Allah will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve” [Al Zukhruf: 68] And He said: {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُم مِّنَّا الْحُسْنَى أُوْلَئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ * لَا يَسْمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَا وَهُمْ فِي مَا اشْتَهَتْ أَنفُسُهُمْ خَالِدُونَ * لَا يَحْزُنُهُمُ الْفَزَعُ الْأَكْبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّاهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ هَذَا يَوْمُكُمُ الَّذِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ} “Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed. They will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally. They will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised” [Al Anbiya: 101-103] Because they fear this Day of Resurrection and prepared for it, they will reap these benefits and great glad tidings –we ask Allah for his. Their situation in the world was: {إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْماً عَبُوساً قَمْطَرِيراً} “Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."” [Al Insan: 10] May Allah Almighty reward them with a situation in the Hereafter that suits them by by guarding them from the evil of that day and its panic. The Almighty said: {فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُوراً * وَجَزَاهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَرِيراً} “So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness. And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].” [Al Insan: 11-12] There is no doubt that the word of oneness and acting on its belief is the key reason for this safety. Allah Almighty said: {وَكَيْفَ أَخَافُ مَا أَشْرَكْتُمْ وَلاَ تَخَافُونَ أَنَّكُمْ أَشْرَكْتُم بِاللّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَاناً فَأَيُّ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ أَحَقُّ بِالأَمْنِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ * الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُواْ إِيمَانَهُم بِظُلْمٍ أُوْلَـئِكَ لَهُمُ الأَمْنُ وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ } “And how should I fear what you associate while you do not fear that you have associated with Allah that for which He has not sent down to you any authority? So which of the two parties has more right to security, if you should know? They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice - those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.” [Al Anam: 81-82] 2.Faces that are lit up white Allah Almighty said: {وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ ابْيَضَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فَفِي رَحْمَةِ اللّهِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ } “But as for those whose faces will turn white, [they will be] within the mercy of Allah. They will abide therein eternally.” [Al Imran: 107] Allah Almighty said: {وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَة ٌ * ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ } “[Some] faces, that Day, will be Musfira. Laughing, rejoicing at good news.” [Abasa: 38-39] Musfira: it is said, bright. It is said: lit up. It is said: completely enlightened; close in meaning. 3.Groups (of people) that Allah will shade on the day when there is no shade but His On that day when people will not be shaded from the heat of the sun, which is at a mile distance away from the creation and they are in great anguish on a long day, Allah Almighty says about them: {تَعْرُجُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْـفَ سَنَةٍ } “The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.” [Al Maarij: 4] Groups of people will be treated gently by the shade of Allah Almighty on a day when there is no shade His –His Majesty. What a great happiness and big prize it is. Those groups came in the Hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that is agreed upon that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Allah will give shade, to seven, on the Day when there will be no shade but His. (These seven persons are) a just ruler, a youth who has been brought up in the worship of Allah (i.e. worships Allah sincerely from childhood), a man whose heart is attached to the mosques (i.e. to pray the compulsory prayers in the mosque in congregation), two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only, a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for illicit intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah, a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity), and a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears.”[1] In Al Bukhari’s narration: “a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given”[2] In Muslim’s narration: “A person whose heart is attached to the mosques”[3] In Sahih Muslim there is the Hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) also where said: the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Verily. Allah would say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who have mutual love for My Glory's sake? Today I shall shelter them in My shadow when there is no other shadow but the shadow of Mine.”[4] Among those whom Allah Almighty will also shade are the ones who show flamboyancy or deal with it. In Sahih Muslim there is the Hadith of Abu Yaseer (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “He who gives time to one who is financially hard up (in the payment of debt) or writes off his debt, Allah will provide him His shadow.”[5] As for the reciter of (Surah) Al Baqara and Al Imran, they will come on the Day of Resurrection as two clouds that will protect him. Abu Umama Al Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: “Recite the Qur'an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite It. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqara and Surah Al 'Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two Ghamama or two Ghayaya, or two Firq of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqara, for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it. (Mu'awiya said: It has been conveyed to me that here Batala means magicians.)” The linguists have said: Ghamama and Ghayaya are everything that shades a person over their head from the sky and likewise. His words Almighty: “or as if they are two Firq of birds.” (Two) Firq are two separate groups. One is called Firq. 4.The situation of the ones who are in searching for the needs of people and ease their anguish 5. The situation of the ones who cover for the people of the world Anguish passes by people and difficulties in the life of this world. Islam has protected the spirit of unity and cooperation between the Muslims. It has permitted for someone to lift the anguish off his brother in the world so that it can relieve his anguish on the Day of Resurrection. What a great reward it is! Likewise, the one who covers the awra (private parts) of the Muslims because he will need someone who will cover him on that day as the reward is from his deeds. In Sahih Muslim there is the Hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “He who alleviates the suffering of a brother out of the sufferings of the world, Allah would alleviate his suffering from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection, and he who finds relief for one who is hard-pressed, Allah would make things easy for him in the Hereafter, and he who conceals (the faults) of a Muslim, Allah would conceal his faults in the world and in the Hereafter. Allah is at the back of a servant so long as the servant is at the back of his brother”[6] 6.The situation of the ones who are just in their judgement, with their families and with those who they have authority over Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The Dispensers of justice will be seated on the pulpits of light beside God, on the right side of the Merciful, Exalted and Glorious. Either side of the Being is the right side both being equally mrneritorious. (The Dispensers of justice are) those who do justice in their rules, in matters relating to their families and in all that they undertake to do.”[7] 7.The situation of the martyrs Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that: “the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “One who is wounded in the way of Allah-and Allah knows better who is wounded in His way-will appear on the Day of Judgment with his wound bleediing. The colour (of its discharge) will be the colour of blood, (but) its smell will be the smell of musk.”[8] Ibn Hajar said: “the scholars have said: the wisdom in the resurrection like that is so that he will have a witness over his sacrifice of himself in the obedience of Allah Almighty” 8.The situation of restrain their anger Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhy narrated the Hadith of Muath ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “if anyone suppresses anger when he is in a position to give vent to it, Allah, the Exalted, will call him on the Day of Resurrection over the heads of all creatures, and ask him to choose any of the bright and large eyed maidens he wishes.”[9] Allah Almighty praised those who restrain their anger in His words: { وَسَـارِعُواْ إِلَى مَغْفِرَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا السَّمَـاوَاتُ وَالأَرْضُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ * الَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِي السَّرَّاء وَالضَّرَّاء وَالْكَاظِمِينَ الْغَيْظَ وَالْعَافِينَ عَنِ النَّاسِ وَاللّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ } “And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous. Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good” [Al Imran: 133-134] 9.The situation of the Mu’adhdhin (one who gives the call to prayer) In Sahih Muslim, Muawiya ibn Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying The Mu'adhdhins will have the longest necks on the Day of Resurrection”[10] Everything that hears the sound of the muathin witnesses for him on the Day of Resurrection. In Sahih Al Bukhari there is the Hadith of Abu Sa`id Al Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) who said to him: “I see that you like sheep and wilderness. If you are with your sheep in your wilderness so you give Athan (the call for prayer), raise your voice in the call. There are no Jinn, humans or anything that hears the sound of the muathin except that they are witnesses for him on the Day of Resurrection”[11] 10.The situation of those with ablution (ablution) Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: “On the Day of Resurrection, my followers will be called "Al-Ghurr-ul- Muhajjalun" from the trace of ablution and whoever can increase the area of his radiance should do so (i.e. by performing ablution regularly).” so whoever is able among you to extend their ghur let them do so”[12] His words Ghurr: whiteness in the forehead of the horse. Meaning: the community of the Prophet (peace be upon him) come on the Day of Resurrection with their faces shining with whiteness and light from the effects of ablution Muhajjalun: the whiteness at the whole base of the horse. It is said: on 3 of them, among them two hands and one leg. The meaning: this community also has whiteness in its hands and legs and light from the effects of ablution. With this all of the limbs of ablution enter Ghur and Muhajjalun. The head is in what is called Ghurr. May there be mercy for whom this day comes and there is whiteness and light in their face, hands and feet. We ask Allah Almighty for this. This is the situation that those who perform ablution come on and it is a privilege for the community of Mohammed (peace be upon him) without any others. In the narration of Muslim, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “You will have distinctive marks which nobody among the peoples (except you) will have; you would come to me with blazing forehead and bright hands and feet on account of the traces of ablution.”[13]. Meaning: you have a sign and a privilege that is not for any other community [1] Narrated by Al Bukhari number (660).
