The Dark Side Of Midnight
The stillness,the silence that devours me,
Is so intense that it pains my ears,
And brings to my eyes tears,
In a flood of remembrance,
The memories are alive,
Engraved in my heart forever to stay,
They can never ever be washed away,
Like the sands can on the shore everyday,
The feeling that grips me,
The sorrow that finds me,
Is all a part of me now,
The part of me that cannot sing again,
That will never dance,
Like it danced on cotton clouds then,
The darkness all around me is filling,
Isn't it so peaceful and chilling?
I look all around me and to myself I confess,
There is nothing found here but the barren walls of emptiness,
My ears can hear no more,
My tears can roll no more,
For they have frozen into ice,
Like little pieces of dice,
Glued to the face of a lifeless porcelain doll,
Motionless I am, but then so is time,
I have no place in this present universe so vast,
And so I cry frantically like a child for the past,
Tonight I will float into timeless space,
Devoid of all awareness, presence or place,
Shivers up my spine, each one a bee’s sting,
As the ticking of that clock turns into a ring,
That dreadful, horrifying “ding dong”, “ding dong”,
Oh God please forgive me, I have done so much wrong,
Ding dong, ding dong, the icy cold strike of my old attic clock,
Welcoming so Quietly and with all might,
The dark side of midnight.
