![]() types of intercession ‘Abdullah ibn Hamoud al-Furaih There are two types of intercession: The first type: the Shariah intercession (confirmed intercession) That is the accepted intercession and under it there two categories that will be discussed For this intercession there must be two conditions: The first:permission for the interceder to intercede and being accepted The second:accepting for the one who is being interceded for Proof to them: His words Almighty: {وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ لَا تُغْنِي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ اللَّـهُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيَرْضَىٰ} “And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allah has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves.” [Al Najm: 26] His words Almighty: { مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِۚ} “Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?” [Al Baqara: 255] The second type: polytheistic intercession (refused intercession) That is the intercession of the disbelievers as their intercession will not benefit them. The Almighty said: {فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمْ شَفَاعَةُ الشَّافِعِين} “So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors.” [Al Muddathir: 48]
